"Our mission is to instill the passion of jogo bonito in our players by teaching the art of soccer
- from technique, to creativity, to total ball mastery." - Andrew Carman
Most youngsters in the USA are introduced to the game of soccer through AYSO, Rec Leagues, or one of a multitude of "Children's Soccer" Franchises. Despite the best intentions of part-time or volunteer coaches and parents, children often develop bad habits and improper techniques that hinder their development. Our children's soccer academy introduces young players to soccer (football) in a calm, simple, fun, systematic, and professional environment that provides academy soccer training and soccer camps year round teaching the true essence of the Beautiful Game.
With over 30 years of playing and coaching experience, Coach Andrew Carman, a former NCAA and Professional player, has developed a fun, challenging, and comprehensive age-appropriate soccer learning system for kids. Our Children's Soccer Academy provides year round soccer training and soccer camps for boys and girls 4-12 years of age serving Santa Monica, Venice, Pacific Palisades, Marina del Rey and the surrounding areas.

Why Santa Monica Soccer Academy?
"Everyone is looking for a quick fix - and, it's not just an American thing - Countries like England, Canada, and Australia are also failing to produce the highly technical, composed, creative players that seem to pour out of France, Spain, and Brazil, for example. Our goal is to introduce players to the game in a calm, thoughtful way. Unfortunately most young players are introduced to a frantic, non-thinking version of the game I like to call "Chaos Ball". The furthest thing from Pele's Beautiful Game you can imagine."
How is Santa Monica Soccer Academy different?
"Our coaches are trained to guide and encourage young players to, first and foremost, begin to "Think" like soccer players. Soccer is about mind and body control, composure, and self expression. By stressing the importance of simplicity of play and the need for excellent mechanics and technique young players are empowered to begin playing the game in a calm, controlled fashion that allows them to to "see the forest amongst the trees." While other so-called experts are exposing young players to a ton of high level skills and tactics in a bid to create tiny professional players, Santa Monica Soccer Academy stresses the fundamentals and simply guide the young players to slowly absorb the game into their DNA and discover what works for them throughout their soccer journey."
Can you elaborate on "The Soccer Journey"?
"Players are constantly learning and don't reach the peak of their powers until around 26-27 years old. Unfortunately, many kids are quitting the sport early because they feel too much pressure to perform at a young age. Players, parents, and coaches must develop a "Growth Mindset" where they all understand that players are constantly learning and growing and, if given the chance, will reach their full potential both in soccer and in life.
